At the Mary Banks Global Training Center, our mission is to equip believers not only with knowledge of the Word but also with a commitment to live out their faith in tangible ways. We believe that true faith manifests in action, impacting the world around us and reflecting God’s love to those in need. James 2:17 reminds us, “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” Faith that remains unexpressed is incomplete, while faith that is lived out through action brings God’s Kingdom to life.
In this article, we’ll share how our students are making a difference in their communities, demonstrating their faith through service, compassion, and outreach. By applying what they learn at MBGTC, they are becoming powerful agents of change, embodying the heart of Christ wherever they go.
Faith in Action: Meeting Physical Needs
The Bible calls us to care for those who are suffering or in need. In Matthew 25:35-36, Jesus commends those who fed the hungry, gave drink to the thirsty, welcomed strangers, clothed the naked, and visited the sick and imprisoned, saying, “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
Inspired by these words, many of our students engage in community service projects, reaching out to those who are struggling financially, emotionally, or physically. Whether it’s through food drives, clothing distributions, or organizing shelter for the homeless, our students are actively meeting the physical needs of their communities. Their faith compels them to serve with love and humility, seeing every act of kindness as an opportunity to reflect Christ’s compassion.
One student shared, “When I help those who are in need, I see it as an act of worship. I am serving God by caring for His children.” This attitude reflects a heart transformed by God’s love, committed to making a difference in the lives of others.
Faith in Action: Providing Spiritual Support
While physical needs are essential, our students also recognize the importance of addressing spiritual needs. Many individuals are searching for meaning, hope, and healing in a world filled with challenges and uncertainty. Our students step into this gap, offering prayer, encouragement, and the Word of God to those who are seeking spiritual guidance.
Romans 10:14 asks, “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?” Through Bible studies, prayer groups, and one-on-one mentorship, MBGTC students are sharing the gospel and helping others discover the hope and salvation found in Jesus Christ.
One of our graduates leads a weekly Bible study at a local youth center, providing a safe and welcoming space for young people to learn about God’s love. “Many of these young people have never heard the gospel before,” she says. “It’s a blessing to be able to introduce them to Jesus and see their lives change.” Her dedication is a testament to the transformative power of faith when put into action.
Faith in Action: Advocating for Justice and Compassion
Our students understand that the gospel is not only about personal transformation but also about standing for justice and compassion in society. Proverbs 31:8-9 instructs, “Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.” This call to action resonates with those who feel a burden to advocate for marginalized and oppressed individuals.
Some MBGTC students have taken on roles in advocacy, working with organizations that fight against human trafficking, support domestic violence survivors, and assist refugees. They approach this work as an extension of their faith, speaking up for those who have no voice and fighting for change in systems that perpetuate injustice. For them, faith is a call to stand with the vulnerable and bring God’s love into difficult and painful situations.
One student reflected, “I’ve learned that faith is not passive; it calls us to act. When I see injustice, I know that God is calling me to respond with love and courage.” This commitment to justice demonstrates the heart of the gospel, showing the world that God cares about the suffering and seeks to bring healing and restoration.
Faith in Action: Building Strong Families and Communities
The impact of faith extends beyond individual actions to strengthen families and communities. Our students are active in their homes and neighborhoods, applying biblical principles to foster unity, love, and respect within their relationships. As Ephesians 4:2-3 urges, “With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
Some students host family devotionals, leading their loved ones in prayer and worship, and teaching their children the values of integrity, kindness, and humility. Others work with community groups to promote peace and reconciliation, building bridges between people from diverse backgrounds and fostering a spirit of harmony.
One student shared, “Faith has changed the way I approach my relationships. I’ve learned to be patient, to forgive, and to seek peace. It’s amazing to see how God’s love can transform a home.” By living out these principles, our students are helping to build strong, godly families and communities that reflect the character of Christ.
Faith in Action: Mentoring and Discipling Others
One of the most powerful ways to impact others is through mentorship and discipleship. Jesus Himself modeled this by investing in His disciples, teaching them, and preparing them to continue His work. In Matthew 28:19-20, He commissioned His followers, saying, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.”
Our students embrace this call by mentoring new believers and helping them grow in their faith. Through discipleship programs, personal mentorship, and small group studies, they guide others on their spiritual journey, sharing what they’ve learned and helping others discover their own purpose in God’s Kingdom.
One of our mentors explained, “Discipleship is about walking alongside someone, helping them to see who they are in Christ. It’s not just teaching; it’s investing in their lives.” This commitment to mentoring others creates a ripple effect, as each disciple becomes empowered to disciple others, extending the reach of God’s Kingdom.
The Ripple Effect: Inspiring Others to Serve
When faith is put into action, it inspires others to do the same. Many of our students report that their service has motivated friends, family members, and community members to get involved. Faith in action creates a ripple effect, where each act of kindness, compassion, and love encourages others to live out their faith as well.
Hebrews 10:24-25 exhorts us, “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another.” As our students serve, they inspire others within the Body of Christ to engage in acts of service, building a strong community of believers united in purpose.
The Lasting Impact of Faith in Action
The work that MBGTC students are doing is more than just good deeds—it’s the outworking of a transformed heart, a life surrendered to God, and a commitment to His mission. Their actions have a lasting impact on their communities, showing the world the love, grace, and truth of Jesus Christ. They become the hands and feet of Christ, serving as a light in a world that so desperately needs hope and healing.
In Matthew 5:16, Jesus encourages us, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Our students’ lives shine brightly as they live out their faith, drawing others to God and bringing Him glory.
Conclusion: Living Out the Gospel
Faith in action is at the heart of what we teach at the Mary Banks Global Training Center. We equip our students with biblical knowledge, but we also emphasize the importance of applying that knowledge in real, practical ways. As James 1:22 reminds us, “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” True faith is expressed in love, service, and obedience to God’s commands.
As our students continue to impact their communities, they remind us that the gospel is not just words on a page—it is a living message that transforms lives. Through acts of service, compassion, and outreach, they embody the love of Christ and demonstrate that faith is indeed alive and powerful. We are proud of their dedication and honored to support them as they bring the light of God’s Kingdom into the world.
If you feel called to serve and make an impact, we invite you to join us at MBGTC. Together, we can learn, grow, and live out the gospel, transforming lives and communities for the glory of God.
